I received a BS degree in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin. Five years later, I had a boyfriend who wanted a silver ring with a Yin-Yang symbol on it. I took a course in jewelry making to make it for him. Now 30 years later, I have a Master degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing. I worked 10 years as a jeweler in the industry putting myself thru Grad school and supplementing my income while I started teaching. I have taught at the University level since 1977. I run the jewelry program at Loyola Marymount University and in 1997 the Mechanical Engineering and Jewelry program received a grant from the National Science Foundation for one of the first CAM (computer aided manufacturing) machines. Since the field was brand new we had to teach ourselves.
My jewelry has been exhibited all over the USA and in Japan. I have had articles written about my work from here to Japan and the Netherlands. I also have written articles about the new CAD/CAM technology both for jewelry and mechanical engineering publications.
